I was going through twitter today and there was a trending topic that got my eye ; NAIROBI CBD. This certain topic was more of the on going numerous crime incidents that are going on in Nairobi CBD and its environs .It really is disturbing seeing those video clips and uncountable testimonies from people who have experienced what they call “kukaribishwa kanairo“.I happen to know one person who was welcomed in Nairobi.
About a month ago my mum was accousted by these thugs on her way to work. She is normally an ealrybird worker therefore she has to wake up very early and about 3 she leaves the house .On her day to day route she was met by two men and they meant business.By the help of a gun they silenced her as they made sure to sweep her clean of her belongings that were of value and with all the guts in the world they told her to go and sleep.
This is just one incidence in a million of them, all amusing and sweet to hear. But this leaves a feeling of fear among the nairobians because to make it worse this hooligans take away lives mercilessly and leave the bodies lying on streets. With this such kind of reports on national broadcasting TVs and social media platforms when will the average nairobian feel safe on this same streets that he or she has to work to provide fo him or herself ?
Now the interior security cabinet secretary has come out to pass a warning and inform the “boys in crime” that they government is coming after them and they are not coming to joke .In his speech he said “We have witnessed increasing criminal activity within Nairobi. Those boys who have dared the government and want to tell us that they can take over the city and make it a city of crime, we have heard you and therefore we are coming effective immediately”.
With this directive from their superiors nairobians have faith that the police officers will tie their boot laces and will boldly and vigorously start eliminating these criminals and their criminal activities. May the cry of these citizens affected not die in vain.
